Digital Feedback Must Lead to Action

A digital feedback channel can make a concern visible, but only institutional responsiveness determines whether that concern leads to a change in service.

In brief

  • Access and responsiveness go together. People need a way to report problems in their own language and circumstances, and institutions need staff, clear responsibilities and escalation routes to turn reports into decisions.
  • Workforce and relationships matter. Research on Somalia’s community health workforce suggests that culturally aligned female community health workers, timely responses and visible fairness reinforce one another. Technology is part of the explanation, not all of it.
  • Measure whether the loop closes. Did the concern reach the right team? Did action follow? Did the person receive a response?
  • Read the results in context. The associated mixed-methods study reports associations within its setting, so its findings should guide context-specific implementation and further evaluation.
